EXAMPLE OF FLOOD PROBLEMS IN INDONESIA

BANJIR DI JAKARTA
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - House of Representatives (DPRD) of Jakarta provides information and advice related to reports of accountability (accountability report) the Governor of Jakarta in 2010. Some of them, not maximum performance highlights Parliament Provincial Government (Provincial Government) Establishments in terms of flood mitigation.
"The problem of flooding is still an unresolved issue in Jakarta until now. Efforts to address the flooding through the normalization of 13 rivers, reservoirs, sea dikes, pumps, and channel improvements have not been fully implemented as expected," said City Council Vice-Chairman of PPP , Lulung Lunggana, when reading the recommendation of Parliament, Friday (29/04/2011) at the Parliament Building, Jakarta.
He also cited the East Flood Canal project (BKT) is not function optimally due to sewer and water ropes toward BKT untapped as expected."Related to the flood control program in 2010 there is a program that did not take place, namely Halim Reservoir and Pump Folder Koja," said Lulung.
Reservoir Halim did not take place because there has been no cooperation agreement with the Air Force. While pump Koja folder did not take place because there is no agreement with PT Pelindo.
"Going forward, there should be coordination and cooperation with the Air Force and IPCs," he said.
Waterlogging problems still arise when it rains. From the existing pool of 106 points, will be completed as many as 33 points in 2010 and the remaining pool of 73 points again.
"The Board expects that the remainder of the existing pool can be completed in 2011," said Lulung.
Another thing that is becoming increasingly hinder the completion of the program of flood control and inundation is the low absorptive capacity of the Public Works Department (PU), which only reached 41.45 percent of the available budget. In 2010, flood prevention budget reaches Rp 1.34 trillion.
